To close off the school year, the Rotary Club visited McLean Interact Club to host its induction ceremony. The Rotary Club gave Interact members official recognition as rotarians, or members of the Rotary Club. Interact’s claim of rotarian status marks an official partnership between the two volunteer organizations.
“[The day of the induction] is the day that your club is born,” Rotary District Governor Amelia Stansell said.
The induction has given the club new aspirations for future service projects.
“With official support from Rotary Club, we hope to find more service and volunteering opportunities on a larger scale,” sophomore and incoming vice president Avery Hughes said. “We can work hand in hand with Rotary Club to find new members and make a difference.”
So far, the Interact has limited its scope to local communities, but its partnership with the Rotary Club will help the club to expand its outreach and impact.
“We’ve done a lot of local volunteering and part of the Interact club is to do something internationally,” club president Chloe Jeong said. “It’s more accessible, now that we have [been] inducted into the Rotary club. I’m excited for more ambitious efforts.”
Interact is invigorated by this new development.
“I feel excited for a new type of organization in the club,” Jeong said. “Next year we can really kick off a new start.”
