After an application process, the Red Cross Club (RCC) officer positions for the 2025-2026 school year were announced on May 16. The application called for candidates to demonstrate their leadership skills and dedication to the RCC throughout the year. Decisions were determined by a board composed of current officers.
“We look at the commitment the candidates show to the RCC throughout the year through things like showing up to meetings, logging hours and if they have participated in activities,” said senior Soyam Amanuel, current RCC president.
This year, the deciding board wanted to emphasize quality over quantity more, leading to the consolidation of some current leadership positions.
“I hope the new leadership can collaborate more and that the future presidents can delegate tasks better than what we have done in the past,” Amanuel said.
To conclude the year, the old leadership planned their last event of the 2024-2025 school year, which was giving back to their community by making cards in support of the Service to the Armed Forces.
“It was a really easy means to pursue meaningful change in the community because all of our initiatives are very accessible but still have a profound impact on thousands,” said junior Sidona Asmelas, 2025-2026 president of the RCC. “While I'm really pleased by the direction the club is heading, I hope to expand our range of activities that I wish to tackle this coming school year.”
