Colorful trees are swaying back and forth on a beautiful fall day here in McLean, Virginia.

From the start of autumn many Mclean students wished they could go back to the season which lacked stress and was filled with fun. Regardless, they make the best of autumn and spend time engaging in fall activities, rituals, and enjoying the weather a colored leaves surrounding them.

Autumn is viewed as a breezy yet cooling season, the weather gives people excuses to go to their nearest coffee shop, go on morning runs, or even play around in their piles of leaves. Senior Jennifer Rose takes advantage of the weather and fall over other seasons.

“In the spring the weather is humid and randomly cold or hot. In the fall it’s not as random and you’ll always have a sweater in your hand,” Rose said. “With enough layers on, you can go outside and play in the leaves without the fear of getting sick or dehydrated.”

Fall activities are very celebrated in America and cherished as traditions. Senior Robert Tabackman takes part in a yearly fall ritual which he will continue to do every fall.

“Since I love following baseball, something I like to do every fall is watch the world series,” Tabackman said “Even though what I love most about fall is the weather, I prefer to do indoor activities, like watching movies with my friends, during the season.”

Unlike Tabackman, senior Emma Thieme loves going outside during the season. Just as Rose, she enjoys the slight breeze and perfect autumn weather.

“I love everything about fall. The food, the holidays give it all the reason to be my favorite season,” Thieme said “Something I enjoy doing every fall is apple picking, running to my nearby cemetery surrounded by colorful leaves and drawing on them.”

With winter approaching, fall’s coming to an end yet students continue to go around and engage in all that fall provides and find out what they’re most thankful for.
