Fairfax County Public School District too large to handle
The recent blizzards have seemed to have blown everyone off schedule. Luckily, spring will be here shortly and we’ll be able to enjoy the warm weather. However, it brings in one question, which snow days are actually necessary?
While Fairfax County received closings most of the time, other districts received delays or remained open. The highly populated Fairfax County covers about 407 square miles, meaning the area might be too large for a single school board to handle.
Fairfax County should consider breaking into smaller school districts in order to meet the needs of individual areas, instead of having to accommodate for one giant one. This would mean that when the weather takes a turn for the worse, there is more of a chance that the entire 407 square miles won’t shut down.
