12/04 Trans-Siberian Orchestra @the Verizon Center
Pay a visit to the spectacular Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas Tour as the rock-opera orchestra celebrates 15 years of touring. Expect an amazing performance as they are known for incredible, eye-catching visuals.
12/06 MellowHigh featuring Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis, and Left Brain of Odd Future @ the U Street Music Hall
Join MellowHigh which actually just consists of the three members from the alternative hip hop group OFWGKTA as they promote their new album MellowHigh. Seeing the group is made up of the three rap geniuses Hodgy Beats, ,Domo Genesis and Left Brain, it is fair to prepare to yourselves for a show full of energy and probably something you wont experience at any other rap show.
12/09 Matisyahu’s “Festival of Light” @ the 9:30 Club
If you’re looking for a creative way to celebrate Hanukkah, or just a reason to go to a concert, go to Pennsylvanian-born, Hasidic Reggae singer Matisyahu ‘s annual Festival of Lights Tour in celebration of the real Festival of Lights.
12/10 The Hives @ the 9:30 Club
If you’re a fan of Franz Ferdinand and The Strokes, The Hives may become your favorite band after you go to their December 10th show. The Swedish rock band is famous for the revival of garage rock in the early 2000’s and with a ticket price of only $35 the concert is a must-go.
12/11 Lupe Fiasco @ the 9:30 Club
Come see the notoriously outspokenvrapper perform at the 9:30 club on December. Considering he’s already ended a show early in Salt Lake City, Utah tomato at him, it should be an interesting show. Taking that into consideration, you should keep yourself safe from anymore flying tomatoes and avoid another fiasco.
12/11 Sara Barielles and Gavin Degraw @ The Fillmore Silver Spring
Watch Sara Barielles and Gavin Degraw capture your hearts with their soulful love songs at the Baltimore Arena. With hit songs like “Love Song” and “Not Over You” you can expect your ears to be ringing for the next three days with their amazing voices. Not to mention Sara Barielles’ exceptional piano expertise
12/12 Andrea Boceilli @ Verizon Center
Although Andre Bocelli is not much of a popular artist amongst teenagers, its a great show to go catch with some older family members or some friends who appreciate opera music. This tour features the Italian singer’s 14th album Passione, featuring duets with some big names in the music industry like Nelly Furtado and Jennifer Lopez, so there will be a little something for everyone.
12/13 Flosstradamus @ the U Street Music Hall
The Chicago based DJ’s J2k and Camerucci are coming to DC to rock the U Street Music Hall. If you’re into EDM, trap music, or just plain Hip Hop, this is the concert to be at. The duo, who have performed at festivals like Pitchfork, Coachella, and Lollapalooza, have attracted the likes of prominent musicians like Iggy Azalea, Diplo, and Juicy J.
12/14 John Mayer @ the Baltimore Arena
Don’t forget to make a pitstop by at a CVS to pick up a tissue boxes and a bottle of waterproof mascara (if you wear regular mascara, of course!) on your way to Baltimore to see the ultimate heartbreaker, John Mayer. With a captivating voice like his and song lyrics that will capture just about anyone’s heart, it’s not to guarantee you’ll fall in love.
12/15 Ms. Lauryn Hill @ the 9:30 Club
This show might have to be the must-see show of the year, considering all that Lauryn Hill has been through. Between going to prison for almost three months for tax evasion, juggling six children, and just being her normal outspoken and opinionated self, it sounds like ha lot of really cool stuff will be flowing out of her musical outlet. Just listen to the newest single, “Consumerism, she released via email while in jail and you’ll understand. The tickets may be on the pricey side at $75 but it is totally worth it to see such a legend of our time in concert.
12/16 Hot 99.5 Jingle Ball @ the Verizon Center
This year’s Jingle Ball is the teenage dream for pop music addicts. With a lineup that include performances by teen idols like Miley Cyrus, Austin Mahone, and Jason Darullooo (Derulo) its the perfect show to take your younger sibling to to use as an excuse to go sing along to “We Can’t Stop” live.
12/18 Beyonce’s Mrs. Carter World Tour @ Verizon Center
All hail Queen B! The queen is back and this time as Mrs. Carter, everyone should be excited for this. When she first released the dates, it was expected that she was to perform songs from her upcoming album except she’s still working on it ad there isn’t a solid release date . So she’s making do with what she already has (which is amazing anyways) and continuing to conquer the world. We salute you Queen B!
12/18 Thirty Seconds to Mars @ XL102′s Miracle on Broad Street at The National in Richmond
After rumors about a potential break up immediately after their last tour, Thirty Seconds to Mars is back stronger than ever, doing what they do best and that’s bringing the house down. This tour is worldwide in promotion of their fourth studio album Love, Lust, Faith, and Dreams.
12/19 Dillon Francis @ the U Street Music Hall
Dillon Francis is an EDM DJ widely known for being one of the original DJs to use Moombahton, which is a mesh between house music and reggaeton. The 26 year old DJ has performed at major music festivals like Coachella and Tomorrowland and attracted the likes of other DJs such as Calvin Harris and Zedd. Junior Syed Kamal will be one of the students from McLean in attendance and when asked what he’s most excited for he said, “I’m pretty pumped. I hope he finds his dad.”
12/27 and 12/28 Gogol Bordello @ the 9:30 Club
If you haven’t heard of Gogol Bordello now is the time because the Gypsy punk band is known for it outrageous (in the good way)performances.”I’m psyched to see Eugene Hutz’s mustache in all of it’s Ukrainian glory.” senior Grace Myers said about their upcoming show.
