On Nov. 11, McLean high school gave thanks to veterans in the McLean area with a meaningful ceremony. Over 100 students came out to watch the event of military members, students, and politicians talking about Veterans Day.
Speeches were given a few members of the phenomenal History Honors Society club at the high school. Alexandra Kohout and Emily McAuliffe gave a combined speech on the historical aspects of Veterans Day and important events in American history.
Alex Zele then talked about her work with interviewing various veterans in a program the History Honors Society supports. The chief executive of the club Amelia Gilmer then gave a riveting speech about her work with veterans and its impact on her life.
The formal ceremony started with the playing of a trumpet from sophomore Jeffery Nolan and ended with a beautiful rendition by the same trumpet.
