With the first semester coming to a close, McLean’s History Honors Society (HHS) reflects on their accomplishments thus far.
“We have almost 150 active members ,and we’ve gotten members involved in Virginia gubernatorial political volunteering,” Senior Zoe Adams-Christian said.
Members of HHS have also participated in significant national events, gaining knowledge and experience with major historical events.
“We also participated in the wreaths across America event which honors deceased American soldiers by laying wreaths on their graves,” Adams-Christian said.
Beyond participation in historical events, members of HHS have served McLean’s history department through creating helpful material.
“Students have created dozens of history related study materials and historical infographics” Adams-Christian said. “This helps teachers with lesson planning and students with studying and preparing for tests.”
With the second semester behind them, HHS looks forward to the several opportunities that arise with the coming quarter.
“We have our library of congress field trip coming up on Friday, March 13,” said senior Jane Hirschberg, president of HHS, “and closer to the season we’ll start doing study sessions again to help students prepare for exams.”
HHS hopes that the second semester will yield even more successful outcomes.
“Considering all of our accomplishments and progress so far, I’m very optimistic for the next two quarters,” Hirschberg said. “I’m looking forward to finishing the second half of the year strong.”
