As the holiday season approaches, the newly opened Munch and Match cafe has added fun and warm seasonal drinks to their menu to embrace the cold weather. I ordered a variety of their new drinks including their hot chocolate, matcha hot chocolate, and their pumpkin spiced latte.
Pumpkin Spiced Latte 3.5/5
Upon taking my first sip of this latte the only taste that came through was the coffee and cream, only in the aftertaste could I really appreciate the pumpkin and fall flavor. Additionally the whole drink itself seemed quite bland and had a lack of sweetness. However, I did really enjoy the frothiness of the drink and the very hot temperature it was served at. As I kept drinking the latte, the more I liked its flavor and creaminess.
Hot Chocolate 4/5
If you are looking for a basic and simple hot chocolate that will warm you up on a cold day, this hot chocolate does the job perfectly. The hot chocolate had a very nice balance of sweetness and milkiness which made the drink very enjoyable. I do wish that for the price of five and a half dollars, there were some toppings like marshmallows or whipped cream. Overall, the drink was very basic but had good flavor and warmth.
Matcha Hot Chocolate 5/5
This was by far the best drink that I had tried. There was a perfect balance between the earthiness of the matcha and the sweetness of the hot chocolate. It was smooth and creamy, and the flavor felt rich while not being overwhelming. It was a very comforting and unique Japanese twist on a normal hot chocolate. I would definitely order this again, especially on a cold winter day.
All the new drinks seemed very balanced and they were all served piping hot which made them very enjoyable. Overall, the new seasonal drinks at Munch and Match were excellent and are something I will be looking forward to getting on a cold winter day.
