Tous les Jours Bakery and Cafe opened recently in August at Tysons Corner, and it offers a wide selection of breads, cakes, pastries, sandwiches and drinks. The bakery combines French baking techniques with Korean flavors, creating a unique menu that stands out from other local cafes.
The exterior of the bakery was sleek but also bland, giving off a modern yet uninviting vibe. Inside, the cafe felt quiet and a little empty, with no music playing and only a few customers scattered around. The seating was simple, with small tables and chairs, but the space still had a clean, organized feel.
Despite the dull atmosphere, the customer service was excellent. I was greeted by one of the cashiers and felt welcomed right away. The staff seemed attentive and ready to help, which made the visit more pleasant. Overall, while the cafe itself had a quiet atmosphere, the friendly service helped set a positive tone before I tried the food.
Strawberry Croissant – 4.5/5
The strawberry croissant was the most delicious item I ordered. It came with a thick, sweet cream, with strawberries on top sandwiched between the croissant halves, topped with a dusting of powdered sugar. Each bite held together perfectly, with the cream and the fruit staying neatly inside. However, the croissant itself was a bit lackluster, having a hard and flaky outside and lacking the light, airy fluffiness I expected.
Garlic and Cheese Bread – 4/5
I initially expected the garlic and cheese bread to be just regular bread garnished with garlic and cheese flakes. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a sweet, gooey cheese center when I bit into it. The contrast between the slightly salty garlic flavor and sweet cheese filling was unexpected but enjoyable. The flavors blended nicely, making it more interesting than a typical savory bread. My only complaint is that the bread was hard to bite into, which took away from the overall experience.
Blueberry and Cheese Danish – 3/5
This Danish was far too sweet for my taste. The cheese was firm, making it somewhat uncomfortable to bite through, and the blueberry custard had a slightly lumpy texture, though it still tasted good. Despite these issues, the pastry bread was light, fluffy and even a little slightly crispy, which I really enjoyed.
Cinnamon Twist Donut – 4/5
The cinnamon twist donut had a delicious cinnamon sugar coating that added a satisfying crunch to each bite. The cinnamon flavor wasn’t overwhelming nor too subtle, giving it a pleasant, enjoyable taste. However, the inside of the donut lacked the light texture I had hoped for, making it feel dense and stale. Despite this, the exterior of the donut had a nice chewiness that helped balance the consistency. Overall, the combination of the flavor and texture made it an enjoyable donut, despite its flaws.
All in all, I had a great experience at Tous les Jours Bakery and Cafe and will definitely be returning. The calm, minimalist environment paired well with the bakery’s creative mix of French and Korean flavors, making the visit feel both comforting and unique.
