Released on May 27, Joe Jonas’ album, Music for People Who Believe in Love (Deluxe) marks only his second solo album since branching out from The Jonas Brothers, his original band, back in 2013. The album is made up of 14 songs with features from five different artists, including Franklin Jonas (his brother), Sierra Ferrell and Louane.
The opening track on the album is titled “Woven,” and has a running time of just 1:18. The entire track is instrumental, acting as the introduction for the entire theme of the album. Following this short but ethereal melody, Jonas’ song titled “Parachute” brings a more upbeat mood to the listener. The song explores the theme that, no matter what happens in life, everything will turn out fine. Jonas finds a way to turn this almost cliche subject into a unique listening experience by adding an electric back track that gives off an ‘80s vibe.
Later in the album, we see the featured artists make an appearance in the songs “Velvet Sunshine,” “Sip Your Wine” and “Hey Beautiful.” While the sounds range from upbeat and bright to introspective and uncertain, they all reflect on the complicated nature of love and trust. “Velvet Sunshine” is definitely a top contender for one of the best songs of the summer.
The album wraps up with “Constellation,” which explores Jonas’ feelings of being able to find himself again after going through a difficult time in his life. In his lyrics, he implies that going through tough times in one’s life and hitting rock bottom can be used as pure motivation to climb back into a lifestyle of fulfillment and joy. Listening to this song gives the listeners a lasting feeling of hope after traveling on a roller coaster of emotions throughout the album.
Jonas has had great success with his latest releases, and one of his songs on this album, titled “Heart by Heart,” is his second most listened to song on Spotify, along with “Honey Blonde,” his fifth most popular. The deluxe version of this album also includes live versions of the original album’s songs. Overall, Jonas blew it out of the water with his new music and his growth after gaining popularity in The Jonas Brothers is truly inspiring.
