In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, stylists from Michel Salon & Spa came to all lunches during Oct. 11. Their Pink Hair for Hope fundraiser charged $10 for one pink hair extension with all the proceeds going towards breast cancer research and awareness.
“We’re one of the only salons in the area that gives all the money we make to charity. We make nothing from it.” makeup artist Renee Stanley said.
Last year, Michel Salon & Spa also visited McLean through their collaboration with marketing teacher Debra Fargo.
“This is our second year doing this,” Stanley said. “Ms. Fargo said it would be a great idea and it turned out to be a nice little program.”
The marketing classes helped by creating posters to advertise the fundraiser. The student body responded very positively, with many students participating in order to show their support.
“I think its great to help people, and I always wanted pink hair,” freshman Maria Sepulveda said. “This really cool because it lets girls help out other girls.”
Michel Salon & Spa plans to continue working together with the marketing classes in the future though a fashion club or class.
