Demi takes a new stance in her music as she releases her fourth album “Demi” which really does wonders in showcasing her talents to the public and finally breaking out of her teeny bopper phase. She has finally graduated to a new level in music from her Album Unbroken in which she sang about overcoming her past and depression. In Demi, the singer has finally overcome that past, she isn’t living down anymore. She’s making music and she’s enjoying doing it.
The album starts off with the first single “Heart Attack” which comes across as easily one of her best tracks on the album. You still feel that teen pop star vibe but her voice does so much for the song that you would not even notice. She isn’t like many other teen pop artists. Her voice doesn’t require all the extra studio effects and added auto tune. It sounds just as good raw and listeners can really hear her melodious voice throughout the track. Lovato also showcases her talent in the song, “Fire Starter” which is sort of like her “love yourself” piece that really makes you want to jump up and undo your pony tail and dance around because you are hot. In “Neon Lights”, Lovato takes a sultry twist in her vocals and entices listeners with this cool laid back tune. “Made in America” can easily be branded as that typical fresh summer tune, you’d want to listen to in the car with the top down, cruising around town. Lovato closes the album with the track “Warrior” in which she finally closes off this battle once and for all that she’s been fighting for all these years. She puts her heart and soul into the lyrics as she describes her struggles and what she’s been put through but she’s done with that stage in her life and you can hear it in her voice she belts out these powerful lines, “Now I’m a warrior/Now I’ve got thicker skin/I’m a warrior/I’m stronger than I’ve ever been/And my armor, is made of steel, you can’t get in/I’m a warrior/And you can never hurt me again”. She is finally done with the struggle and she’s more than happy to take this new step in her music career. Listeners can tell that she has come a far way from where she was and that she has finally found herself with her music. Lovato knows where she stands as an artist and she’s ready to take on whatever else her life may bring.
Fans will especially love this album not only because of the catchy singles that she’s always promised them but because of her lovely voice that only preaches honesty and what she’s been through. The element of truth in her music allows fans to connect with her on another level and helps them overcome their own personal struggles. This album is full of a lot of promise and the upbeat tunes and heartfelt ballads are sure to leave you a “Lovatic”
