Angry grumbling moans echo throughout the halls of Mclean. Soulless footsteps can be heard. That isn’t the sound of hungry walkers. It’s the sound of disappointed Mclean high school students.
To put things bluntly, the much anticipated season finale of the Walking Dead was a let down.
“They had so much suspense leading up to a big battle and then nothing happened.” said senior Kuno Yang. Yang was not the only student who felt disappointed.
“It was so hyped up with expectations of a war and people dying” said Junior Kristian Kc.
The episode contained nothing students wanted to see.
Even worse, it had so many plot holes. Merle’s death was completely forgotten by his brother Daryl. Daryl loved Merle enough to abandon the group. They’ve probably known each other longer than Rick knew Lori. The thought of Daryl being completely mentally sound after having to put down his own brother is unthinkable. I don’t want to see Merle in a white dress, but I do want to see a little bit more emotion in his brother.
To make matters worse, Andrea’s death was over dramatized. When she was running away from Woodbury, she managed to fight three walkers while being held against a tree with only one arm free. There were countless other walkers only a few feet away from her.
Yet somehow, she couldn’t manage to kill one walker with a sharp object in hand and both legs free. She could have stabbed Milton and finished it right there. She could have kicked Milton away and finished freeing herself. She could have even planned ahead of time and asked Milton to restrain himself before dying. Instead, Andrea acted out of character and did absolutely nothing. All of her months of experience beating down zombies just flew out the window.
Finally, it should not be forgotten that the Governor’s rampage made no sense. Of course no one out of out of the group of around 30 armed townspeople decided to shoot back. Come on. He has two guns and we only have 30. Why would we shoot when we could stumble away as we run?
Now, assuming that every single one of the armed townspeople was too naïve to defend themselves, we could have still counted on Martinez and Shumpert to put an end to the Governor’s reign of terror. Martinez and Shumpert had gone on missions with the governor in the past and were obviously combatively experienced.
For some unknown reason, despite being visibly horrified by the deaths of their countrymen, they stood around and did nothing. The Governor had his back to them and they did nothing. Even after the massacre when the Governor had both hands on the steering wheel of a car and off of his guns, they did nothing.
