This year leadership and SGA have been hard at work planning for this year’s homecoming game and dance. That said though, students who have been to prior homecomings have expectations.

“We want more teacher and community involvement this year,” says Senior class vice president, Zawwar Khan. “Our goal is to make the football game a community event that all of the people in the McLean High School area [can] come to. We also want to take homecoming back to its roots, ‘home-coming.’ This is when college students come back home for the first time. We want all [alumni] to come to the game!” The football game will be held on Friday October 25th.

The dance, which will be held in the Lower Gym on Saturday October 26th, is going to be Disney themed, according to Zawwar.

“Nowadays when we hear disney, we immediately think about childish pixar movies,” said Zawwar.

Students all have different expectations onto what the dance will be like.

Senior Matt Solomon said when asked what he’d expect at this year’s homecoming dance,”I have no idea, hopefully something fun but safe.”

“I’m looking forward to dancing with my friends and just having fun together before and after the dance,” said senior Lia Tabackman, hoping that, “that the dj is good and that they have interesting decorations.”

“Buying a dress and dinner!” added senior Grace Demarais.

To Grace, “Homecoming is an excuse to look nice and go to dinner.”

This year, people have different expectations of what homecoming will be to them, though as said in Grace and Lia’s quotes, Homecoming is a time to enjoy having a fun (and responsible) night with good friends.

Summary:

McLean student’s expectation’s of this year’s homecoming celebrations, as well as what SGA has to say about what is different this year in comparison to prior years and what this year’s theme is. McLean’s homecoming football game will be the 25th of October 2013 and the dance will be the 26th of October 2013 in the lower gym.
