Frozen, Disney’s latest release, is just one of many successful Disney films.
As of January 15, this movie is only second to The Desolation of Smaug, which is the second installment of a world-renowned trilogy that also has a cult-following. Frozen – a one-off film that’s loosely based off of a little-known old Nordic fable – is beating out hundreds of other movies ( including Anchorman 2), consistently grabbing the second-place spot in box-office earnings.
In my mind, that is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. This film had no precursors and no connection to other movie series, yet has beat out many titles that do. This success both showcases Disney’s ability to create an alluring story, and their ability to create a darn-good movie.
Frozen is simply the latest in a long illustrious line of Disney films. What films? Toy Story ( all three), Finding Nemo, The Lion King, The Jungle Book, Aladdin, Tangled, and Peter Pan, to name a few. All of these films have became instant classics; each of them were created in the best quality for their time, and each had a specially created soundtrack to accompany it. Most of the soundtracks have won awards – in fact, the Frozen album currently stands at number one on iTunes.
Just for reference, Beyoncé’s album – which Rolling Stone called “a bombshell”, and “a feat” – holds fast to second place.
