On September 20th, Drake released his album Nothing Was The Same, which includes his Billboard chopping hits, “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and” Started From The Bottom” This album also provides some of Drake’s usual singing and rapping with collaborating with Big Sean, J-Zay and many others.
The first track on the album is “All Me” which features Big Sean and 2Chainz. This song is about how Drake and the featuring artist have got to their success on their own and pretty much did not relay on any one to help them. It includes a beat that would make you not even realize your nodding your head and singing along with Drake in the chorus line. I would say the message behind this song would be to work hard for what you want, and don’t have others try to achieve your goals in life for you.
“Hold On, We’re Going Home” is the second song that was released from the album. The song was originally written by Majid Jordan himself but Drake switched it up and made it his own. “Hold On. We’re Going Home” has a mellow beat that kind of makes you dance, but you can’t help but singing along and feeling what Drake is going through in this song.
“Started From The Bottom” is another song that’s released from the album. It repeatedly repeats, “Started From The Bottom, now we’re here” Clearly Drake wants you to know how he “started from the bottom” and which, I honestly don’t think this song was so “ill” because Drake lived in a middle class home in Canada, and was a child actor on the teen show, Degrassi. So honestly I think Drake had it pretty easy and didn’t REALLY start from the bottom.
One song that was really was sentimental to me was, “Too Much” because it was quite relate-able and showed Drake’s personal side and gave a glimpse of whats going on in his family household. The song which is actually pretty a slow song, but the beat drops which makes you feel the song even more.
Overall, “Nothing Was The Same” was a really exceptional album because it provided different music quality and it was one of Drakes best albums to come.
