On Friday, September 20th, Merriweather Post Pavilion was the venue for one of the most notable up and coming music groups in recent years, Imagine Dragons.
Thousands poured into the alfresco arena with blankets and beverages, suggesting that a tame evening may have been in store, this quickly changed. “The atmosphere was simply electrifying,” senior Matt Choi said. “Everyone was up dancing and chanting the lyrics, it was just amazing.”
The opening acts, the Envy Corps and The Neighbourhood, also lent a hand in making the night memorable. The Envy Corps surprised the crowd with an array of very well written songs, while the Neighbourhood lit up the stage with their hit song ‘Sweater Weather’ amongst many other crowd favorites. “I love the Neighbourhood, their performance was just fantastic,” junior Madi Schuman said.
Nothing, however, compared to the performance given by Imagine Dragons. Starting off their set list with ‘Round and Round’, the Las Vegas based band then spoiled the crowd with popular tunes ‘It’s Time’, ‘Demons’, and ‘On Top of the World’, before closing with their 8 week American chart topper ‘Radioactive’. Even an encore performance, of the song ‘Nothing Left to Say’, was given to cap off an incredible night at the Pavilion.
