Ten questions with World Civilizations teacher Karen McNamara
1. What was your favorite song as a teenager?
“Man From Milwaukee” by Hanson. It’s one of their lesser known songs. It was goofy and silly and made no sense. As a teenager I thought it was hysterical, the boys were cute.
2. If you could have any pet what would it be?
I would totally want a Pegasus. I want a flying horse.
3. What is your favorite video game?
Doctor Mario! It was a lot like Tetris. No Mario and no Luigi, it was just music and little things that you’re trying to destroy.
4. Do you have any hidden talents?
No, not that I can think of! But I think I’m double jointed in my knee. Most people’s knees don’t bend as far back as mine do. I don’t know that for certain; I’ve never been tested. I just feel like they’re double jointed knees.
5. What president would you reinstate in office?
Even though he was in there for so long, I think F.D.R. The progressive ideas of his time period were really strong, and really important for our nation.
6. What is the last resturant that you went to?
Plaka, if that counts! It’s my favorite Greek restaurant in Vienna. It’s takeout, but it’s the best Greek food I’ve ever had outside of Greece.
What did you order?
Gyro.
7. Favorite subject in high school?
History. Is that a shock?
8. What three things would you bring with you onto a desert island?
My kindle, music, and Hermione’s bag of necessity. I wouldn’t need to be rescued, I’d be fine!
9. Favorite actor?
Ian Somerhalder. He’s in Vampire Diaries, and I am obsessed.
10. Would you rather skydive or scuba dive?
Skydive. I’m afraid of sharks. The idea of jumping out of a plane does not scare me, but the idea of swimming with sharks does.
