McLean and Longfellow choir’ put on a performance called ‘The ABC’s of Do Re Mi’ on Thursday, March 1. The night began with the Longfellow choir’s three sections, Basso, Mixed and Treble, performing a total of eight different songs. Then McLean’s four choir sections, Treble Camerata, Bass Camerata, Armonia, and the Madrigals, performed nine songs.

The night was not only a chance to perform, but also served as a learning experiences for the up coming festival. Festival is where the various choir sections will perform in front of three judges and will receive a score ranging from one to five based on a variety of factors. McLean choir directed Linda Martin used this concert as an opportunity to acknowledge and fix some mistakes.

Throughout the night Martin would have the choir students recognize some areas of improvement after their performances. Festival is still a couple of weeks away, which gives Martin and the choir time to rehearse and improve.

“We are going to have a lot of rehearsals, outside and in school, to make sure that at the festival we put our best foot forward,” junior and McLean Armonia Chorus member Riley Carr said.

The McLean choir is made up of students from all grades and each coming in with different levels of knowledge ranging from extensive to barley any. The students, however, enjoy learning and growing together and being able to perform together.

“I love being on stage with my amazing friends,” Carr said. “Getting to enjoy the experience with them is awesome.”
