McLean boys basketball was one of the area’s most surprising teams this season, rebounding from a winless campaign last year to a respectable 8-14 mark this season including a number of upset wins over quality opponents.

Three Highlander players earned all-Liberty district honors following the completion of the regular season- junior point guard Matias Prock was named to the district’s first team, senior forward Sean Senft earned second team honors and junior forward Brian Aka was a first team all-defensive selection.

Prock, McLean’s starter at point guard since his freshman year and the team’s undisputed star, averaged over 15 points a game this season, including 25 points in a loss at Langley and 15 points in the final six minutes to stun Langley in the rematch at home two weeks later.

Senft averaged around 16 points and was a strong rebounder and three point shooter for the Highlanders in his senior year.

The Highlanders face off at Yorktown tomorrow night at 7 in the first round of the district tournament, where a win would earn the team a region tournament berth, McLean’s first since 2014.
