A vibrant center of community, the DowntownDC Holiday Market offers festive fun for all. Running from Nov. 21 to Dec. 23, the market is located in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery on F Street Northwest.
While the main attraction of the holiday market might be shopping, the vibrant atmosphere and delicious food make it a destination fit for anybody.
The booths themselves have anything you would want during the holidays. They provide a diverse selection of apparel, pet products, jewelry, books and print and everything in between. It’s the perfect place to stumble upon unique gifts to give and receive this season.
Aside from holiday shopping, the live music that plays from Thursday to Sunday adds another festive aspect to the attraction. Located in the center of the market, across from the food trucks and seating, musicians play on an elevated stage beautifully decorated with festive garlands and winter poinsettias. The music itself is enjoyable to listen to while walking through the market rows or to watch and enjoy while eating a crepe in front of the stage.
The holiday market is also a great way to support small businesses and local artisans. In a holiday season dominated by commercialized brands and mass production, it is refreshing to see so many one-of-a-kind pieces and carefully crafted products.
Everyone is welcome to the festivities, whether they prefer to shop in the booths, partake in the delicious treats offered by the food trucks or simply stroll down the brightly lit street and enjoy the atmosphere. People of all ages can be found here: young couples taking pictures, families trying to wrangle small children, elderly grandparents window shopping and best friends excitedly bouncing from one booth to the next. The DowntownDC holiday market truly brings people together for the holidays.
