Overview:
Stranger Things season 5 has made yet another comeback again with gaining over 59.6 millions views in five days, a breaking record for Netflix’s viewership.
The fifth season of Stranger Things starts off with a flashback to Will Byers in the first season, stuck in the Upside Down and hiding from the demogorgon. This scene changes the story for viewers as Will is dragged by the demogorgon into Vecna’s house, revealing that Will and Vecna have been connected since season one. This change in perspective spirals throughout the first four episodes of the season which were released on Nov. 26, leaving Will seeming all powerful by the fourth episode as he saves Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair and Robin Buckley from being attacked by demogorgons.
Revealing that Will could harness Vecna’s powers was a major shift for the show’s plot, instantly transforming him from the victim of Vecna’s damages into potentially one of the most powerful and dangerous characters in the entire series.
Predictions:
With fans buzzing over the newly released four episodes, tons of predictions and theories have already been made for what’s about to be coming in the Christmas and New Year’s releases.
“I know that someone’s probably going to die,” sophomore Alexandra Eriksen said. “I [think] it’s going to be Murray, because he’s not really contributing a whole lot anymore [and] the characters that are still here [have] been around for long enough where if you killed them off the audience would be really mad.”
Another fan shared a different prediction about who else might meet their fate.
“[I predict that] Steve’s going to sacrifice himself for Dustin,” freshman Sofia Naposa said.
Steve Harrington and Dustin Henderson are a power duo throughout the show. Many McLean students agree that Steve and Dustin are some of their favorite characters although they may not survive.
“My favorite character is probably Mike, Steve or Robin,” junior Finn Murphy said. “That’s who I want to survive. [But] I have one prediction [that] Robin is going to die.”
Multiple fans also have predictions that the team will defeat Vecna since Will has gained powers and number eight has returned.
“Now that we have Will and number eight both introduced, I think that’s all they need to destroy Vecna and the mind flayer,” freshman Oliver Truax said. “That’s the key team. [However] I don’t know who but someone is going to be sacrificed.”
Even with fears of who might die, some believe that the key players will all come together to defeat Vecna.
“I think that they’ll [definitely] rescue Holly and they’ll defeat Vecna,” senior Victoria Johnson said.
With fans counting down the days of the holiday releases, there is one question remaining that everyone is asking over and over, “What will happen next?” Theories, predictions, and hopes are everywhere, everyone can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
