In preparation for the 2025-2026 season, McLean’s Dance team is hosting a number of events. On May 20, they hosted a prep clinic for students at Longfellow Middle School. The team also held prep clinics for current high school students to practice for tryouts, which will be on June 11 and 12.
“The Longfellow prep clinic has been super successful in gaining interest,” junior dancer Sara Ridjanovic said. “It’s a great opportunity to practice, talk and make up new choreography.”
The team succeeded across the board over the course of the school year. After placing in the top five at a regional competition and in the top 20 at nationals, the Highlandettes are looking ahead for another winning season.
“This season went really well. I’m excited to see what comes next and what types of routines we’re going to do,” Ridjanovic said.
Prep clinics and tryouts are also an opportunity to meet new dancers and establish relationships with future teammates. The events provide a chance for upcoming talent to demonstrate their skills and give coaches an occasion to watch their rising prospects.
“I’m really looking forward to football games. We have a lot of fun together as a team, especially before the games,” freshman dancer Emma Ekland said. “I also think we want to really work to have good competition routines and do well.”
