Congratulations to Jessica Aten, whose short poem amazed judges and took the crown in NEHS’ horror themed writing contest this winter. You can read the winning poem below.

Warmth

by Jessica Aten

Dragon ice

In my breath,

A chill

Upon my ears

Cold forms atop

My fingertips

The wind freezes

All my fears

A handle

In my hand

Steam dances

From the top

Drinking up

The comfort

In the scene

Of the coffeeshop
