21 Savage has been arrested by ICE for overstaying his visa. For those who don’t know, 21 Savage is a rapper who has been a grammy nominee at least twice and happens to be from Britain. This comes as surprise to many of his fans, considering that auto tune helps mask his British accent.  There are those who are worried about what this will mean for the rappers future career.

“I hope that him getting deported doesn’t affect his music career or his family,” senior Chris Canas said.

According to a statement that ICE has released, they are awaiting “the outcome of his case before a federal immigration judge to determine future actions”.They have also reported that his visa had expired in 2006, and that he broke the law when he stayed here with an expired visa. As role model for millions of young adults, this controversial revelation has worried many of his fans. Although, there are those who feel that even if 21 Savage does get deported, it’s nothing to worry about.

“I don’t think it will effect his career because he still make music in the U.K. and he’ll still have his fans,” senior Jonathan Kaplan said.

21 Savage’s legal team has said that he was specifically targeted for using anti-ICE lyrics. In a statement they released, they said that “many have speculated as to possible ulterior motives for his arrest and detention including that he released music five days prior to his arrest by ICE, which included new lyrics condemning the behavior of immigration officials for their detention of children at the border”. Weather ICE intentionally targeted 21 Savage for his music or not remains to be seen.

As of this Tuesday, ICE has kept 21 Savage in their custody in Georgia, and will remain there until a federal immigration judge determines his case. For now, his fans will have to wait patiently to see if he gets deported or not.
