Kingsman: The Golden Circle – A Film Review

“Manners maketh man,” said Harry Hart, a Kingsman agent under the codename Galahad.

This is the second movie of the Kingsman series after following a huge hit from its first movie, Kingsman: The Secret Service. Featuring most of the characters who were beloved by the fans in the first movie, the movie was expected to be another hit.  However, the Kingsman: The Golden Circle was unable to reach the audience’s expectation.

“I was just disappointed,” senior David Gartner said.

The plot was simple and shallow. The characters lacked depth in them; unlike the Valentine, the main villain from the previous Movie, Ms. Poppy lacked character.

“I liked Samuel L. Jackson’s [Valentine] more,” Gartner said.

The Kingsman: The Golden Circle elaborates on its prequels which a young boy “Eggsy” grows as a mature Kingsman agent, replacing Harry Hart, his mentor who died in the first movie. The return of Harry was a pleasant news for the audience. However, fans criticized the production for being unable to utilize the character to its full potential.

“I thought [bringing back Harry] was unnecessary. His character didn’t do much in this move and [it] delegitimize his death,” Gartner said.

The energetic action scenes were still able to please the viewer’s eyes. Kingsman series tend to portray well-crafted fight scene.

“The fight scenes were really good,” Gartner said.

Final Score: B-
