International club hosted its celebration meeting after school on Thursday to commemorate the success of its annual International Night event that was hosted in February. Performers and officers brought in foods including donuts and muffins to honor the hard work of everyone.
“We really wouldn’t have been able to pull off the event without [tech theater managers] and our volunteers,” vice president senior Sophia Dannenberg said. “International Night received help from amazing participants that helped everything to come together.”
Members and officers shared the challenges and achievements that the club was able to accomplish during International Night while also sharing future plans for the club. The club members planned possible fundraising ideas such as a bake sale, a fundraiser, a Do-Good-with-Chipotle fundraiser and a Chick-fil-A partnership.
“Fundraising is important for the club and International Night because it helps cover costs for decorations, food and entertainment,” said junior Leena Eid, the newly elected president for next school year.
Fundraising partnerships with large corporations are often an easy way to receive financial support while also bringing attention to the club and its goals. Restaurant events are the most popular type of fundraiser as supporters can enjoy a meal of their choice while supporting a cause.
“The money raised will support the International Club’s year-round activities, such as cultural activities and community outreach programs,” Eid said.
The club’s goal, as shown by activities such as International Night, is to create a welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds.
“We love connecting with new cultures and giving everyone a space where they can feel safe,” said Eid. “I love this club and allowing people to meet other people from their culture.”
