Hidden within the sprawling Capital One Center in Tysons Corner lies Flore Café, a picturesque establishment that combines modern elements with classic Thai cuisine. After walking inside, we were instantly met with feelings of comfort and hospitality, creating a relaxing dining experience. The menu offered a plethora of options with something for everyone. If you are looking for a beautiful and exquisite place to eat, look no further than Flore Café.
Pistachio Latte – 5/5
Pistachio lattes are extremely popular nowadays, but it’s hard to come across a good one. This latte had the right amount of espresso, a subtle sweetness, a nutty pistachio flavor and crushed up pistachios for texture. This $7 drink was visually appealing and provided a refreshing twist on a normal latte.
Purple Potato Latte – 4/5
When looking at the menu, the Purple Potato Latte instantly caught our eye. It was a pleasant surprise when the bright purple drink was served to our table. The sweet, nutty and earthy flavor delighted my taste buds from start to finish. The yellow flower on top was a simple but elegant finish to the presentation. For $8, the cup contained a fairly large portion, making this unique drink worth the cost.
Supreme Soft Crepe with Nutella, Banana, Strawberry and Vanilla Gelato – 5/5
This classic crepe absolutely blew us away. Topped with a plentiful amount of fruit and served with lucious gelato, the crepe is the best way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Immediately after taking a bite, we were met with the strong yet pleasant taste of hazelnut Nutella and the warm, delicate flavor of the crepe. The dish was an embodiment of the incredible quality of Flore Café’s food, making it one we will remember. From presentation to taste, Flore Café knows how to deliver a rewarding experience.
Honey Butter Toast with Matcha Green Tea and Matcha Gelato – 4/5
This dish was presented beautifully, with the crispy and buttery toast topped with a matcha whipped cream, plenty of fresh fruit, small mochi bits and chocolate wafers, with a side of matcha gelato. It was a very large portion, but didn’t feel too rich due the contrast of the gelato and whipped cream along with the bright fruit flavors. The only critique that could be given to this dish is that there was too much going on, so the flavors were not distinct. The chocolate and matcha tasted great individually, but we found that paired together, made for a slightly bitter taste. However, Flore Café offers other flavors of butter toast, so it could be the matcha flavor that was off putting. Nonetheless, it was a unique and delicious dessert.
Sweet Sticky Rice and Mango – 4/5
The sweet sticky rice is another classic food that Flore Café took to another level. Beautifully flavored and presented, the rice was the perfect plate to round out our experience. It was not overly sweet and the mango added a subtle tang to the overall taste. Compared to the more exotic items on the menu, the sticky rice was more conventional. However, Flore Café continued to exceed our expectations with this wonderfully crafted dessert.
Flore Café is an ethereal establishment for grabbing breakfast and brunch, with charming floral arrangements and an antique feel. It is a colorful and pleasant enclave among the stark industrial atmosphere of the Capital One Center. With mouthwatering dishes, friendly staff and a lovely ambience, Flore Café is a true gem.
