February 3, 2017
This February McLean Sources of Strength has partnered with the McLean Theater Department to host a Mental Health Awareness Week Feb 13th-17th , which will coincide with their upcoming production, The Children’s Hour.
Immediate following the final matinee performance of the play, Sources of Strength will have a guest speak deliver a 15 minute ‘talk-back’ with the audience to address some of the themes in the play, but more importantly to highlight the Sources of Strength at McLean High School.
Mental Health Awareness Week February 13th – 17th
Monday Feb 13th – Mental Health Day- Students will be encouraged to dress casually and comfortably. Students often feel the need to dress to impress and this can often create stress for our students and the need to “fit in”. There will be a sign in the cafeteria “I pledge to be a Voice”, for students to sign to help raise awareness about the importance of our mental health.
Tuesday- Feb 14th – Healthy Activates Day- Students will be provided with a list of all clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities at McLean High School. We are working to have an open gym for basketball during Highlander time 8 on this day—TBD.
Wednesday Feb 15th– Positive Friends Day- The sources of strength will be posting positive message and inspirational quotes on student’s lockers.
Thursday Feb 16th Mentor Day- A computer bank will be set-up in the cafeteria for students to select a teacher mentor at McLean High. Each teacher that has been identified as a mentor will receives a “I am a Source of Strength” sticker to be displayed in their classroom.
Friday Feb 17th Family Support Day- An Instagram photo booth and props will be set up for students to take an Instagram pic with their McLean Family.
