Science Olympiad has high hopes for the upcoming season
Coming off a weak season, Science Olympiad looks to rebound
November 2, 2016
McLean science Science Olympiad club is on a rocket ship that is aiming high, in terms of its goals for this coming competition season. Science Olympiad is a nationwide club in which students compete against others in their specific interests, such as egg drops and rocket launches, among others.“Students meet about once a week, depending on how close they are to competition season,” Science Olympiad sponsor Claire Anton said.
An ordinary gathering begins with a short get-together and a run down of the schedule, and then students filter out to work on their own projects and activities. Science Olympiad has had its hard work pay off, making nationals in the past couple of years, but did not make it past states last year.“We are really looking to rebound from a disappointing season,” said Mrs. Anton.
Science Olympiad requires an entrance exam, which almost all of the students pass.“It also helps push students that are just here to hang out out of the club.”, Mrs. Anton said. Stay tuned for coverage of McLean Science Olympiad as the club hopes to blast off to new heights this year.
