People would assume that as the end of the day bell rings students would rejoice at being free of their academic duties, but this is often only the case of Fridays. On the typical day at McLean, most students sling their backpacks over their shoulders and sigh at the hours of work waiting for them at home.
Some students can sit at their desk at home and get to work right away; but for others, it might not be that simple. Many need to have some sort of background noise while their doing their work. Having the TV on might be too distracting, so most opt for some nice background music to help them get focused.
According to a study done by Harris Interactive:
Workers are more productive when tuning in to music, a survey finds.
Nearly one-third – 32 percent – of 1,613 U.S. employees said they listen to music while working through the use of an iPod, MP3 player or similar device.
The effect of music was the highest among younger workers, with 90 per cent of those 18 to 24 and 89 per cent of those 30 to 39 saying it boosted job satisfaction.
