Marissa Gaines:
Physical Education and Drivers Education teacher Marissa Gaines takes advantage of the time she gets off of school in order to travel to new places.
“This year I am going to West Palm Beach because my best friend's parents have a house there,” Gaines said. “I love to travel somewhere warm, and I get to see [my friend] as well.”
This tropical trip will give Gaines an opportunity to rest and get a break from the hectic and stressful school environment. Allowing her to be completely focused on her school related responsibilities when she comes back to school.
“[Spring break] helps me feel rested and [I don’t] have to worry about kids talking in class,” Gaines said. “I [can] have adult conversations and be a real human.”
Sandi Schneider:
Junior Sandi Schneider plans to visit colleges during spring break so that when application season rolls around, she will have an idea of life on each campus and what interests her.
“No matter the demands of school or other responsibilities, it is important to my family that any break given to us is used to its full potential,” Schneider said.
This break will blend Schneider’s academic interests with her exploration of new cities in the U.S..
“I have strong preferences about city surroundings,” Schneider said. “Visiting different cities and campuses is a fun way to observe and test how I resonate with each one.”
Elise Amde-Delattre:
While some may be traveling by plane during their spring break, sophomore Elise Amde-Delattre will be the one flying the plane.
“Traveling is one of my favorite things to do, and I've always been dreaming of learning how to fly a plane,” Amde-Delattre said. “Since it is my birthday I'll be turning 16, so I can finally do that now.”
Usually Amde-Delattre stays at home, sleeps and studies for upcoming exams especially when AP season rolls closer. Although this year is an exciting change from the regular routine
“My plans now allow me to relax without worrying about school,” Amde-Delattre said. “[Flying] is definitely something I am looking forward to.”
Cole Fevens:
International travel is a popular choice for many families during school holidays, especially during a one-week spring break. Sophomore Cole Fevens’ family is among one of the many who entertained this idea.
"I'm excited to go on vacation in the Dominican Republic because my uncle is having a destination wedding there," Fevens said.
Travel based vacations are not uncommon for the Feven family, but they make sure to keep a good balance in order to utilize the break effectively.
"I am planning to travel for the beginning of spring break and stay home for the rest because of hockey and wanting to relax at home," Fevens said. "My plans allow me to take a break from academics and not having to worry about tests helps me recharge for school."
