Treasure, a K-pop group that debuted back in 2020, brought something new to The Theatre located in National Harbor, Maryland. The group broke the norms of traditional stand-still singing with their “Treasure 2025 First US Tour [Special Moment]” in Washington, D.C. Treasure overflowed the theatre with flashing lights, pounding music and vitalized yet synchronized dancing that complemented each song they performed.
The opening song, “Jikjin,” set the atmosphere with the initial boom of drums followed by strums of the bass. The high-energy music and build-up to the chorus, combined with the group members’ live vocals and powerful dance, made a perfect entrance to get the fans on the edge of their seats. The energy continued seamlessly throughout the next few songs: “Bona Bona,” “Boy,” and “I Love You.” Through the concert, each song induced a different form of energy with distinct, catchy lyrics.
The concert’s setlist included songs that balanced rap and singing, accommodating anyone’s taste. The music incorporated a live band with drums, keyboard, bass, and an electric guitar. This arrangement, created especially for the group’s U.S. tour, only contributed more hype to the theatre. It made every song sound appropriate to dance or move along to.
While halftime shows at football games are either hit or miss, Treasure left no room for misstep with their own “halftime show.” In the middle of the concert, the group left the stage open for the live band’s short yet impressive presentation of exhilarating and spirited playing. Despite the members not being present, there was no room for the energy to slip away.
Songs such as “B.O.M.B,” “Sararu,” “Darari,” and “Yellow” proved that the group’s range extends beyond hard-hitting melodies. These songs allowed fans to easily sing along and interact with the members, a bonus to the experience. This mix of genres flowed throughout the show, keeping the audience on its toes. Adding to the unpredictability, the members also changed outfits between songs, making each performance feel fresh and exciting.
The members continuously presented skilled choreographies and formations that formulated dynamic performances. However, when they weren’t dancing, they didn’t just sit still. There were moments when they hyped up the crowd and casually ran across the stage, interacting with the fans through actions and mini speeches, making the concert more engaging and memorable.
But what’s a concert without the fans themselves? This concert can’t be discussed without the fans going crazy in the audience during every performance. In every song, the enthusiasm was radiating from the seats, and the passion when everyone sang along to almost every lyric filled the theatre with a feeling of familiarity with strangers. For Treasure, their U.S. tour is shaping up to be a game-changer, and this D.C. show just proved that they’re only just getting started.
