During the cold winter season, lattes keep people warm, providing enough caffeine to energize and motivate them throughout the day. These are the coffee shops around McLean and Tysons where you can find the best lattes in town.
Greenberry’s
Only a quick walk from Mclean High school, Greenberry’s is a hidden gem. The establishment is well decorated and idealistic for a coffee shop. The iced raspberry truffle latte was fantastic, though the price was quite high at $7.10. The flavor was rich and the raspberry added a unique, but refreshing taste. The drink was more themed towards a dessert or occasional coffee, rather than your daily cup, but for a once-a-week treat, it was perfect. The rich coffee taste mixed with the sweet flavoring made it a delicious drink with a light texture. Overall, Greenberry’s definitely provided an impressive drink, within its well manicured interior.
Cafe Levantine
In the heart of downtown Mclean lies a small coffee shop, Cafe Levantine. The cafe provides a number of sweet treats and drinks, which are the perfect way to improve one's day. Still, not all of their items are great. The regular latte, which is $7, was bland and overly saturated with milk, taking away from the classic coffee taste. The milk also made the texture thick and almost too creamy. Still, if you prefer a drink with more milk, then this would be the perfect place. I would have to pass on it in the future, due to the milky texture and taste.
Paris Baguette
Sitting in The Boro at Tysons, Paris Baguette is the perfect coffee shop for gathering with friends and family while enjoying hot beverages, delicious cakes and pastries. Given the recent cold weather, a medium latte with almond milk was the ideal drink to warm up. Starting at 16oz for $4.99, with an extra charge of 79 cents for the almond milk, this latte features a medium roast coffee flavor, with a sour taste and overwhelmingly watery element. Its generous size contributed to a lasting coffee flavor that will give consumers the energy they need for a long day at school or work. In addition to the coffee, the $3.99 chocolate croissant was fresh and had a great consistency where it was crunchy. It wasn’t too messy and the chocolate drizzle on top added the perfect amount of sweetness to this butter-based pastry. Paris Baguette had excellent customer service: workers were very polite and patient with their customers, which is greatly evidenced by the large crowd that was gathered at the establishment.
Bluestone Lane
Last but certainly not least, Bluestone Lane at The Boro offered a delicious 12oz hot latte with almond milk for $5.55 (with an extra 85 cents for almond milk). This light-roast coffee had a generous amount of almond milk, creating an exceptional, lasting flavor. Not only did this coffee provide the perfect level of freshness and energy for customers, but the shop also offered outstanding customer service. Despite having only two employees working, Bluestone Lane cafe delivered prompt service, with friendly and generous staff who even provided free TimTam chocolate biscuits. Overall, this coffee shop had the best customer service, which was just as astonishing as their rich flavored latte.
