On Jan. 16, the electives fair was held in the lower gym. The fair allowed students to explore the different electives available to them next year.
“The electives fair opened new doors to me that will be beneficial for my future career,” sophomore Bella Anderson said.
After students get the chance to look into their options, they will meet with their counselors to finalize the details of their course selections for the next school year. Counselors will take time to meet with each student individually and review the classes they have in mind. They will also advise students on their course load, career pathways and more to make students’ experience of the upcoming year more enjoyable.
“Students should take academically rigorous courses but not overextend themselves,” school counselor John Allman said. “They should consider their overall well-being and make sure they leave time for activities they enjoy,”
These meetings will be held during science and social studies classes in the student services offices. Sophomores will be the first grade to meet with their counselors, followed by freshmen and ending with juniors.
“During the meeting, [my counselor and I] had a meaningful discussion,” sophomore Ella Tunc said. “We talked about my progress this far into the year and what will be best for my future.”
