McLean was dressed in purple for the 2024 annual homecoming dance. The decorations were set up to be aligned with this year’s homecoming theme: Tangled Under the Lights. On Oct. 19, students were able to enjoy photo booths and music to the fullest.
The preparations leading up to the dance gave students the opportunity to let loose and socialize.
“My favorite part was getting ready with all my friends,” sophomore Mihika Mitra said. “We got to dress up, hang out with friends and eat good food.”
At McLean, a DJ was behind all the music in the lower gym, getting the students moving—the dance was held from 8-11 p.m.
“My favorite part about the dance was FEIN,” freshman Jacob Xu said.
The dance with students jumping to the music created a high energy atmosphere, but even the smallest aspects of homecoming brought excitement.
“The most fun or special part [of homecoming] was the drive to the dance because we were all really hyped,” Mitra said.
Despite all the excitement, this year’s homecoming brought disappointment to some.
“[Homecoming] was better last year because [there were fewer] people in attendance,” junior Boya Kou said.
Even though this annual event holds the same routine for some, it was just as memorable.
“I just went out for dinner, the dance and then hung out at a friend’s house,” senior Lisa Hu said. “The best part was definitely getting ready together and making new memories.
