Every year, one to two classes get added and/or piloted to ensure maximum student satisfaction. For the 2024-2025 school year, these two classes are AP Seminar, which is offered to sophomores replacing their English class and AP Human Geography, which is offered to freshmen.
“I took AP Seminar to challenge myself with research and critical thinking. We’ve done everything from Socratic Seminars on Frankenstein to presenting practice individual multimedia presentations,” sophomore Entisar Neji said. “It’s been tough, but it’s so fun to dive deep into topics I’m interested in and discuss our differing ideas in a class setting.”
A survey was created to receive feedback from students who are taking the piloted courses.
“The county has sent out some surveys, and we’ve gotten some good feedback so far,” said Jenna Jablonksi, director of student services. “The survey information is very helpful, so we encourage students to fill it out.”
In addition, students get Flexploration, which is a time where they can explore their interests in classes they potentially would want to take next year. This time is beneficial to the counselors because they can get a sense of what is compelling to them.
“We encourage students to get to know their teachers throughout the whole year,” Jablonski said. “It is helpful when your teachers know you so they can help you think about classes for next year or what might be a good fit based on your interests.”
