Assistant coach Joseph Coogan talks with pitcher Jack Nance and the rest of the infield in a mound visit earlier in the season. The Highlanders will need this level of organization and coordination to beat Glen Allen on Friday.

After defeating Lake Braddock 5-1 on the road in the state quarterfinal, the Highlanders are bound for the Richmond, VA area to play Glen Allen High School. After falling short in the championship final in both the district and regional tournaments, the baseball team is looking to secure the highest title available: the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship.

“We’re trying to build the team bond the best we can and make sure that our vibes are going on the field so we play well,” junior shortstop Ethan Ball said.

Such a team bond could be seen today at school, where the team took their second period final exams in suits.

The Highlanders need to play clean baseball and put up a lot of runs in order to beat Glen Allen. The game is scheduled for Friday, June 7 at 1 p.m.

“We have to execute our game plan,” Ball said. “Take care of the ball and do whatever we can.”
