Scheduled for Friday, April 19th, the Spring Pep Rally organized by the members of the Leadership class, promises to ignite school spirit and celebrate Spring Sports. Starting towards the end of Highlander time 5, students will be asked to proceed to the football field, where the activities will continue throughout Highlander time 6.
This year, the theme of the pep rally is “Party in the USA,” in order to transport highlanders into the carefree vibes of a summer, as the weather gets warmer. With vibrant decorations, upbeat music and exciting activities planned, the Leadership class aims to get everyone involved in embracing the spirited atmosphere.
“Our job [McLean Leadership] is to make sure that everyone enjoys and looks forward to this pep rally, so we are really trying to promote it throughout the school just so all the students are aware about it,” said junior Noah Hood, a leadership student. “It’s kind of a one last hurrah that the year is ending so everyone can get together and have fun.”
With the countdown to the pep rally well underway, the excitement within the leadership class increases. Behind the scenes, dedicated members of McLeadership pay attention to detail to ensure that everything is perfect for the pep rally.
“In order to prepare for the Spring Pep Rally, we go through our script, we finalize everything together as a class to make sure everything sounds good,” Hood said. “Once everything is in order and then we go out practice at the football field and make sure everything is running smoothly.”
With the pep rally approaching closer, there’s a shared sentiment of both excitement and nervousness among the organizers. The pep rally is significant in demonstrating support for spring sports and ensuring they receive the recognition they deserve.
“I’m a little nervous since this [pep rally] came up quickly after Spring Break but hopefully it will be good as it’s our last one,” leadership class advisor Karen McGraham said. “We really want to support all the spring sports and so they know they are just as important as the fall and the winter, so hopefully it will go really well.”
