McLean’s Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is hosting a silent auction to raise money for school events and items next year, including field trips, library books, yearbook cameras, Celebrate McLean and staff appreciation events.
“The PTSA Spring Auction will commence on March 29 and end on April 6, with an in-person auction event on April 6. from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. The goal is to raise $10,000 to support various activities on campus,” PTSA Vice President of Fundraising Xian Sun said. “Tickets will be sold at $50 per person for the in-person event, food and drinks included, [for] adults only. Those who purchase in-person tickets get the chance to win prizes.”
To support McLean, parents can attend the auction or donate prizes, and student volunteers can hold performances at the event. This year, auction attendees have an impressive array of prizes to bid for.
“The biggest prize is a diamond necklace donated by Boone and Sons jewelry with retail value over $2,000,” Sun said. “The items donated for the auction events include paintings, a book, handmade leather goods, coaching sessions, resume sessions, a handmade Tang dynasty style clay court lady statue, a simulated aviation experience, a one-week Caribbean B&B and more.”
Getting involved with school fundraising is an important step to maintain McLean’s quality and PTSA capacity.
“Students can help to tell their parents about this spring auction and encourage them to participate,” Sun said. “All the money raised helps make great things happen at McLean.”
