On Dec. 7, the Tri-M Music Honor Society held their first Holiday House in the lecture hall from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. The event offered live music played by society members, hot drinks and family fun games. There were also baked goods for sale with all profits raised going towards the honor society’s funds.
“Another local school does something similar, and we morphed the idea to make it our own,” Tri-M sponsor Starlet Smith said. “We wanted to make it [a] celebratory event similar to the homecoming bonfire, but indoors for winter.”
Making the most out of winter break excitement, the free entry event encouraged everyone interested to stop by and have a good time.
“We love to have community members drop by,” Smith said. “It’s nice to hear some holiday carols performed by our members, have some hot cocoa [with] sweet snacks and simply enjoy one another’s company prior to winter break.”
Planning for next year’s Holiday House is already underway, as society members look to improve the event moving forward.
“If we plan the event again next year, I hope we can incorporate even more family games. I would also like to advertise the event around the community more,” Smith said.
