After numerous competitive meets, the McLean Swim and Dive teams have reached the end of their season. On Feb. 21 and 22, the McLean Swim and Dive teams competed at George Mason University for states.
Select individuals participated in the meet, in both individual events and relays. Those who made the certain time requirements were allowed to compete in these events.
“15 swimmers competed for McLean in the preliminaries, but I believe only 13 swimmers competed in finals,” junior Lianne Garrahan said.
While both the boys and girls teams did not win first place, as Woodson won first place for the boys and Madison won for the girls, they were able to exemplify their skilled team. One highlight was that the girls 200 freestyle relay got second place and broke a school record.
“We definitely have a lot of strong swimmers on the team and it was great to see almost everyone move onto finals,” Garrahan said. “Our girls did great in their 200 free relay and even though some people gained time, overall McLean did really well.”
