A sea of red flooded the pool as McLean swim and dive seniors competed for the last time.

McLean swim and dive held their senior night against Yorktown High School on Friday, Jan. 24, marking their last meet before the upcoming district meets. It was a victorious night for swim and dive, with boys winning  191-124 and girls 182-133, as well as 1-2 finishes in dive for Zazi Halla and Sarah Wood.

“The meet was a success,” swim team senior Flavia Carcani said. “Boys and girls won which was a really great way to end the last regular season meet.”

The atmosphere at the meet was uplifting and pushed both the swim and dive teams to victory.

“[The atmosphere] was electric,” Carcani said. “There was a lot of excitement and everyone was having a good time. People were just really hyped up.”

Despite the surreal win, swimmers were saddened that it would be one of their last times swimming alongside the seniors.

“I’m going to miss being part of a good group of people,” Carcani said. “The team is just a big family that has the perfect balance between competing seriously and having fun.”
