It’s Back-to-School night! That means that the parents of Highlanders get to go to school instead! On Wednesday, September 4th, Back-to-School night was 5:30 until 8:30 at McLean.

This event happens at the beginning of every school year at many different schools to bring the parents in and get them adjusted to their child’s school and their classes.

During this event, the parents run through each of their child’s classes for 10 minutes each. They get to experience the crowded hallways and go back to high school for the night. Teachers have a little time to introduce the syllabus and talk about their class and members of the Leadership class at McLean come to school at night to help guide the parents to the different classrooms.

The night begins with students in the choir greeting the parents by singing, and other information sessions open including PSAT, MySchoolBucks, and college and career classes. After the first hour, parents begin to go to their student’s first period for ten minutes, and then through the rest of the schedule.

Back-to-School night is a really important event for parents as they get to understand the courses at McLean, how to help their kid, and how McLean is structured physically and how it runs. It lets the parents become more connected to the school.
