From what seemed like a never ending winter with brutal cold temperatures and repeated snowfall causing numerous school closings, delays and even an unscheduled early release, which is very unusual, the weather seems to be improving as the month of March is near.

“The pattern of western coolness/moisture and eastern warmth continues into March,” wrote meteorologist Jonathan Belles in an article from The Weather Channel. “Temperatures will remain above average in the East, including in Florida, where highs in the 90s and summertime humidity have already returned at times this month.”

After the east coast was hit by El Niño Medoki this past winter, being the reason for it’s harsh weather, the weather patterns in the Pacific Ocean will continue to have affect on our climate. The jet stream will push warmer air towards the east coast, which will expect temperatures to skyrocket.

“The northern and eastern U.S. can expect a warm spring,” wrote meteorologist Brian Donegan in an article from The Weather Channel. “Warm temperatures are expected in the northern and eastern United States as the spring months begin.”

At this point, the snowfall has just about come to an end, and the weather will continue to get warmer as we approach the spring solstice on Mar. 20 with daylight savings only 10 days before on Mar. 10. While we are expected to drop into and below freezing temperatures sometime during the week, it’s almost the time of year to break out your shorts and T-shirts.

Overall as of now, the months March, April and May look to have significantly warmer weather than previous years with averages starting out in the 60s and increasing from there, and we will also expect to see especially heavy rainfalls in the month of April as the plants begin to bloom. While these predictions are rather accurate, it’s always important to stay updated on weather for sudden changes as we head into these next few months.
