Students enjoy Wellness Wednesdays

You might have noticed activities sporadically popping up outside of the cafeteria when walking to or from lunch. This is part of a program put on the Health and Wellness Committee, a parent volunteer group dedicated to helping students have some fun and a bit less stress in their lives.

We try to find activities that will help de-stress the students, during lunchtime mainly,” parent volunteer Robin Birchfield said.

This means that every Wednesday, at least for the time being, there will be a variety of new activities for students to enjoy during their lunch period.

Every Wednesday, at least until October, we’re trying out different activities; we had play-dough last week, we’ll have kinetic sand later this month, we have therapy dogs coming next week,” Robin said.

Robin hopes that these endeavors will help students take a break from their busy lives and give them a chance to just have fun.

So next time you’re heading to lunch, shoulders hunched over with the pressure of the test looming in next period, look up and you might see an empty coloring station waiting for you, next to a laughing group enjoying a game of jenga.
