The current standings from the varsity softball team is 10-1, which is a stark contrast from last season. This time last year the standings were 7-4.  Entering into this season, the team wanted to be more focused on their goals. “We wanted to work as hard as possible at our practices to make them more efficient,” junior first baseman Gabi Norton said. “Although the coaches have been hard on us, it has impacted the team in a positive way.” In their yearly Myrtle Beach tournament, they did better this year than the last. “This year we won all five games, while last year we lost 2 or 3 out of five,” Norton said. The team is excited about how well this season is going, and are looking forward to what is next. “The best part of doing well this season is advancing to the conference championship game and then to regions,” said junior centerfielder Riley Simon. McSoftball has upcoming home games against West Potomac on April 19 and Bishop O’Connell on April 21. The team is enjoying their wins together and expect to keep getting them. “The whole team has a great time when we play the game as well as we can,” Norton said.
