Mcdance-a-thon raises 43k
This past week Mcdance-A-Thon raised over 43,00 dollars for The National Children’s Hospital. Club committee heads Jake Keating, Naideen Gad, and Sina Naemi have outdone themselves and surprised our community by surpassing their goal of 40,000 dollars. Students in grades 2nd through 12th participated in this amazing event and stayed on their feet for 8 hours.
“It was really great experience, and I was beyond thrilled when it was revealed that we surpassed our goal of $40,000,” senior Riya Master said. “I know everyone worked incredibly hard on this event and watching it all come to fruition was an inexplicable feeling. The true reality of high school coming to and end is really hitting me hard with all of these traditions coming to close, but I am really excited to be able to continue my involved with programs like Mcdance-A-Thon in college.”
Mcdance-A-Thon brings the McLean community together by uniting everyone to fight for such can important cause. “This past year my older brother was diagnosed with cancer and it was a very hard experience for him and my family. He was lucky to recover quickly and got the best care. this year was extremely important to me because after experiencing life at the hospital i believe it is so important to make the stay for the kids and the families comfortable. I went on a hospital tour of children’s national and seeing where all of our money is going was amazing!! Mcdance-A-Thon 2018 was the best year yet and seeing all the grades coming to support was truly awesome,” senior Natalie Cole said.
