Camila Cabello

Ex Fifth Harmony member, Camila Cabello, has drawn much attention to herself after leaving Fifth Harmony in December, then immediately releasing top hit Bad Things with rapper MGK. She was apart of Fifth Harmony since 2012 and left, allegedly because she felt sexualized in the music videos that they made. Cabello has been hinting at beginning a solo career since 2015, when she released I know what you did last summer with Shawn Mendes, but has made it a reality only less than three months ago. While she was on Fifth Harmony, Cabello was always the standout member as she took the majority of the solos and had the most distinct voice. Her experience and popularity that she got from the group will help her with her rise to the top.

Cabello has gained much momentum by releasing Bad Things and surely she has no intention of slowing down. 2017 will be her first full year as an independent artist and she is going to make herself known as one. With an incredible singing abilities and the willingness of male artists to collaborate with her, it seems as though there are no limits for Cabello. It is going to be a strong year for this upcoming musical star.

Big Sean

Big Sean is reaching new heights in 2017, no doubt. He is determined to make himself music’s next music superstar. He hopes to dominate the hip-hop world and draw attention from the pop world as well. Thus far, Big Sean has released three studio albums which have all made it to the top five. In fact, his last album, Dark Sky Paradise, hit No. 1 in 2015. Although he has had his share of the glory at the top, many avid hip-hop listeners have not deemed him one of the greats such as Drake or Kanye. Big Sean has already showed that he has the ability to be one of the best, and 2017 will be his year to remain at the top.

Big Sean has been nominated for Grammy’s and has collaborated with a variety of artists, ranging from: Kendrick Lamar and J Cole to Kanye and Drake. His name is out there, he just needs a creative spark that people will enjoy to carry him the extra mile. That creative spark could possibly be the album he just released called I Decided.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa is a strong, British soulful pop artist, she is definitely a rising force. While she is a relatively unknown artist, she has made a couple songs: Hotter than Hell and Blow Your Mind which have both reached a quarter of a million views on YouTube. Dua Lipa has only made four songs, which is fairly low, but she is already commanding very popular music festival stages in the U.K and Europe. It is only a matter of time before Dua Lipa has her name heard throughout the United States and even worldwide.

Dua Lipa started the year by releasing, Scared to be Lonely with Martin Garrix. The single hit 15 million view in just a matter of days. She is a confident and unique artists who will be able to easily stand out in pop culture. She makes upbeat music that will undoubtedly get the attention of the public. The only way is up for this talented soulful pop artist.

James Arthur

James Arthur was the winner of the X Factor in 2012 and signed a label with Syco, the British entertainment label founded by Simon Cowell. Under the label, Arthur wrote few songs that did not make it anywhere near the big times. Most of his songs caused backlash due to his lyrics. Now, Syco is in the past, just recently Arthur signed a label with Columbia Records. What is a more popular and more successful record company, should help Arthur get is name out to the public.

In September of 2016, Arthur released a top top hit called Say you won’t let go. The song is still being played on the radio on repeat. The song was a great way for Arthur to attract some attention with his new recording company. He has performed the song on numerous late night shows, which has brought him invaluable attention in the America. It may just be one song, but it is just a glimpse of what Arthur can produce. He has a fantastic voice which is quite different from any other pop artist out there. 2017 is going to be the year for James Arthur to get his name in lights and prove to the world that he can produce more than just one great song.

Mike Posner

He is back! Mike Posner has finally come back from the dead. He fell off the map completely after his hit song Cooler than me, released in 2009. He also had a decent song, Bow Chicka Wow Wow which was almost an accompaniment to his short-lived fame, but that wasn’t quite enough to keep him in the game. While Posner was in the deep depths of musical darkness, he wrote a couple of songs for popular artists which turned into hits. He co-wrote Boyfriend for Justin Bieber and even wrote Sugar for Maroon 5. Posner commented how he could’t stand the thought of only being a songwriter for the rest of his life, so he decided to give himself another shot at making and singing a song for himself.

The song that got Posner out of the darkness was I took a pill in Ibiza, which described his story of being a struggling musical artist. It was a deep song which caught the ears of many worldwide. Shortly after the song’s release, Posner came out with another decent song called Be as you are. Even now, the song’s are still being played on the radio and it seems as though they can’t get old. Posner is finally getting his shot at the big times again, after years and years. He won’t let himself slip from the minds of his fans and listeners after only a couple songs, not this time he won’t. It’s scene one, take two for Posner, but this time he’s going to make it count and use his talent for songwriting and singing to bring himself to the top of the charts.
