Winter break is a great time to catch up on sleep, enjoy time with family and eat food for the holidays. However, this holiday season—take some time to relax and watch these great movies and T.V shows.
Family-oriented and fun, Gilmore Girls delighted viewers when it was first released in the 2000’s. A story of a young single mom attempting to raise her teenage daughter on her own, Gilmore Girls is a fun watch for anyone looking to escape their own families. With its fast-paced dialogue, quirky humor and lovable portrayal of family dysfunction, it provides a look at the dynamic in a small town. In addition to the seven seasons which aired originally, Netflix recently released A Year in the Life, a reunion season showcasing life a decade after the original show.

Another Netflix Original, The Crown, portrays the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and her rise to power. Filled with amazing acting, the show depicts the real drama around this time period in an artistic way, keeping viewers intrigued. Although it is interesting, the show can at times be strenuous due to the layers of drama which the main characters are surrounded in.

A 2000’s classic, 10 Things I Hate About You has recently been added to Netflix—for a whole new generation to enjoy this modern take on Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. Although it can be downright cheesy at times, this romantic comedy is a great way to relax for an hour and a half. Most importantly, when the break ends and school starts again, it will almost be like you actually read Shakespeare.

This CW show follows not superman, but his younger cousin—Supergirl. Only the first season is currently on Netflix, however, there is still much to catch up on. An action-packed show, Supergirl, will be sure to thrill viewers with its impressive characters and optimistic attitude. Even with some chiché plot lines, the first season is still enjoyable and provides a different outlook of the world of D.C. Comics.
